The company
Radisson SAS hotel (Radisson BLU starting September 2009) in Bucharest is part of Rezidor Group, which owns four large hotel chains throughout the world: Regent Hotels, Radisson SAS, Country Inn and Park Inn. Last year, Radisson SAS has opened in Romania the biggest 5 stars hotel in Bucharest, planning new investments in Poiana Braşov.

With a turnover higher than EUR 10 millions in 2008 and 360 employees, Radisson SAS is one of the most representative top hotel service industry models in Romania.


The situation
When you ask your employees to deliver five stars services, it is natural to treat them the same way. A powerful human resources management is extremely important for the company, reflecting itself right in the employees' loyalty, in keeping a high level regarding their satisfaction, and inevitably, the quality of the services. The readiness in solving the requests, the information accuracy or the compliance with deadlines undertaken in front of the personnel are only several aspects of a 5 stars value system, grown inside the organization.

On the other hand, the lack of a personnel dedicated information system led to a series of problems due to the records kept in various formats. Next to downtimes wasted on collecting data and providing some periodic reports, it was impossible to keep track of the annual leaves and to make proactive decisions regarding personnel service improvement, which is a core value within the organization


The solution
at the beginning of 2009, Radisson SAS started a detail market research to find a vendor able to provide a solution both adapted to the local law and to the company's needs. After analyzing the offers, the company decided upon the implementation of Charisma HR system, developed by TotalSoft software house. It is worthy to note that choosing a Romanian vendor was an exception, because the group only works with international solutions. The motivation is given by the feasibility analysis decision-makers themselves: "It was hard to adapt an international solution to our law, and I'm not the only one who believes that Charisma HR system is the best on the Romanian market.” Roxana Prisăcariu, Human Resources Specialist

One of the challenges was the integration with SCALA system - the financials-accounting application Radisson SAS is working with -, as well as adapting personnel reports to the customer's internal specifications, in order to meet the international standards at group level.

The solution made available includes an unique database, where all the required information are centralized. The requirements to decrease the reaction time to personnel requests and to increase the employees' loyalty and motivation have been taken into consideration. Additionally, the specific of payroll calculation within the hotels field - where the personnel works 24/7, was considered. Thus, if an employee works for more hours in a month, the information system automatically manages this information and the human resources department has the choice to pay overtime or to grant free time, depending on the employee's choice.

You can also find in other companies such a software that can calculate the salaries, but not one so flexible regarding the reporting part, which is an extremely important aspect of our business." The results
The implementation of the system has been done in a very short time: the project started at the beginning of April, and within the same month the salaries have been calculated with the new application.

At the moment, Radisson SAS hotel run all HR & Payroll operations using Charisma, for more than 300 employees. Besides the reports you can usually find in Charisma (payroll, pay slips or leaves), the vendor had also standardized a series of reports specific to Radisson hotel business.

"Because the database that had to be imported raised a series of problems, we didn't have time to work in parallel anymore. We had only a few days to complete the imports and to pay the wages.
